The Comoros islands are composed of many islands. Its seclusion brings in many vacationers looking for peace and relaxation. Swahili is the main language spoken here, and most of the islands businesses are owned by international corporations. The islands population is made up of primarily Arab, Persian, Malay, Malagasy and African descents. Scuba diving is great in the Comoros islands. The best times for diving are August and September. Also, deep sea fishing is also something people love to do on the islands. The prime fishing season is November and December.
Being a chain of small islands I am not surprised to see that fishing and scuba diving are important to the Comoros culture. Their culture is heavily impacted by foreign nations who control a lot of the business taking place in the Comoros. I do not understand why some of the locals do not attempt to buy out the foreign businesses and keep all the money circulating through the islands. With so much diversity of all different descents present in the country I am not surprised by the various amounts of cultural diversity among the islands.
Being from a small chain of islands, scuba diving and fishing are very important to the Comoros islands cultures. From a fishing trip taken by a group of locals a rare catch was made. They caught what was thought to be an extinct species of fish. The Coelcanth was caught and later filmed in its natural habitat 600 feet deep. Without fishing as a main cultural activity in the Comoros, the Coelcanth may have never been caught and still to this day thought to be extinct.
