Sharjah has been selected for the 2014 culture capital. A man made island in Khalid lagoon was constructed for a pricey 140 million for the purpose of the island being the official venue for next years cultural celebrations. An amphitheater in the planning to be built will have 4,500 seats and will be in open air. The amphitheater will host international cultural and art events and will include conference rooms and galleries, as well as a number of shops, restaurants and green areas.
The building of the island and selection of Sharjah as the host city for the culture capital will have great impact on the country. The island will be a great place for members of Islamic faith to gather around and worship. Also, many celebrations will be taking place here inviting people to interact with others. Restaurants and shops will bring a good number of tourists through the island with a good chance of spreading the Islamic ideology to visitors passing through.
With Islam being the most common religion in the United Arab Emirates, the construction of this island and selection of Sharjah ties together perfectly. Much of the country will come to visit the island to celebrate and worship their beliefs. There is much importance for the creation of this island.
